Boyds Untethered #45

Since we moved to Galveston we don’t visit the west end of the island much. Which is kind of ironic as that is the only part of the island that we saw on our first visit here.

It was that first visit that lit the spark that became our impetus to move here… but it has been the east end of the island that has captured our interest since we got here.

I suspect that if we were boaters we would be down at that end of the island much more and we would be traversing the waters of San Luis Pass. As it is that pass that connects the sheltered waters of West Bay to the open Gulf of Mexico.

I hear that the tide changes there can be pretty impressive… 2 feet or more. And dangerous too… claiming the lives of a number of swimmers and fisherman.

But so far our one visit to the extreme west end of the island was to take the toll bridge across to the mainland.
